Painted desk cubby – POP paint!
Posted on 24 Dec 2015
think know that the thing most creative people do apart from making stuff, is organizing stuff!
So it is no surprise that during some quieter times like now, I am taking some time to re-group and re-sort and declutter stuff.
So since I had 2 new desk cubbies that were blank slates I decided to text drive my new POP Paint on them.
And i Love the outcome – vintage and worn just the way I like it but with a new coat of paint.
step 1 – My cubbies as a clean blank wooden product.
Step 2 – I started off by painting a layer of Merinque.
Step 3 – Then a layer of Latte.
Step 4 – Sand the drawers and housing using a sanding block. Distress the edges that will wear naturally a bit more.
Step 5 – Add a layer of dark wax using an old soft cloth.
Step 6 – Add a layer of clear wax using a soft cloth.
step 7 – Then buff the wax to a shine and enjoy your hard work.
(yes I am that person that doesn’t paint the bottom of drawers – and that’s OK too)
