Modern art | Painted and recycled
Posted on 15 Aug 2016
Welcome to this week’s post. Today I am sharing a quick and easy modern art project with you.
If you love painting and have bought a few canvasses in your lifetime then this post is for you.
Whenever I use a canvas, I hardly ever use the small wooden pegs that are supposed to be inserted into the back to add extra support to the frame
and pull tight the canvas part in the front. So I end up with loads of these little guys, that always gets thrown away.
This week I decided to actually use some.
step 1 – take apart a store bought frame and remove the glass.
Paint the backing board in Dove PoP paint and leave to dry.
Once dry stamp some text onto the background using grey ink.
step 2 – Paint the little wooden pegs in different colours using PoP Paint. I used Provence, Macaroon, Polar and Blush.
step 3 – Insert the backing into the frame. Adhere the coloured pegs to the wooden backing using wood glue.
Overlap them and layer them on top of each other.
stamp a word onto one of the pegs and add dimensional glaze over it. Leave to dry.
Finish off the project with a resin butterfly
And there you have a quick project that even the kids can help make during the holidays.
