French Painted wooden storage crate.

Posted on 28 Nov 2016

With the festive season upon us I am making some awesome gifts for family and friends this year and what better way than to pull out
some POP Paint and get painting.
detail1I painted this raw wooden crate storage box in Dove grey with a distinctive French feel, lightly distressed and waxed to a smooth finish.
This crate makes the perfect gift for anyone that is in need of more storage – and who doesn’t need more storage?

Here’s how I achieved the look…
step 1 – Paint the wooden crate in Dove grey.
With POP Paint you don’t have to sand before painting, and one coat should be more than enough for a nice solid coverage.
step 2 – Adhere a resin element to the front of the painted crate using a strong adhesive.
Leave the adhesive to dry before continuing.
Step 3 – Paint the front of the box with the plain element in another layer of Dove grey.
Once dry, sand the entire crate using a coarse grit sanding paper – I used 80grams.
Distress the edges where natural wear and tear will naturally take place.

Use a clean cloth and wipe away any of the sanding dust.
Add a layer of clear wax and buff the wax until the crate has a smooth silky feel.

Add some small castors to the bottom of the crate  – this adds a nice and somewhat quirky finishing touch
to this storage crate.
Use it in the bathroom for soaps and extra towels, in the kitchen as a coffee station, in the bedroom on your side table, or in the office
to hold your stationery.
How will you decorate your home using POP Paint today?

Creating can be a wonderful journey and therapy making sense of things where life cannot, and I have tuned my life into this philosophy.
