Christmas Decorations | POP Painted lids

Posted on 13 Sep 2016

Hello and welcome to this week’s blog post.
Today I am sharing this recycled Christmas decoration using my favourite POP paint colour at the moment.
Is it too early for Christmas preparations yet? No – it can never be too early.
xmas-decor_mainIt was so fun to do, and what I like about creating projects like this is that you can get the whole family involved.
detail2I used a recycled paint tin lid – the perfect circle to create hanging Christmas tree baubles.
step 1 – A metal tin paint lid is perfect to recycled. But our large POP Paint jar lids will work just perfectly too.
step1step 2 – Paint the inside and outside of the lid in your selected POP Paint colour.
I painted 2 layers onto the lid and then sanded the edges lightly to distress them.
step2step 3 – Punch a large circle from Christmas paper.
step3step 4 –  Adhere the punched circle using foam tape inside the lid.
Adhere green twine around the inside rim of the lid, followed by a row of red diamante inside the green twine.
Add a beaded floral and leaved to one side to hide the join of the green twine.
detail1TIP: if you are going to hang the lid on your Christmas tree, then make a small hole and thread a pretty ribbon through it
to hand it with. A nice red eyelet can be used to decorate the hole.
And there you have the quickest and easiest Christmas decor element for your tree, and with the rate of empty
paint tins I have around the house…our tree should soon be full of festive decor elements.
Products used:
POP Paint 28ml – Flamingo pp0002
Assorted 3D Foam Squares sb4430
Until next week – and FYI there is only 103 sleeps left until Christmas.

Creating can be a wonderful journey and therapy making sense of things where life cannot, and I have tuned my life into this philosophy.
