Checkered Art Journal Page using POP Paint.
Posted on 30 Sep 2016
Today I am sharing another fun and funky art journal page with.
I am thinking that my art journal really is just that – a place to make art in where nothing has to have a specific meaning or purpose.
For me that is half the charm. How about you?
For this page I created a variety of coloured book pages that formed my background.
Here’s how i Create them in a few easy steps.
step 1 – Select a few colours of POP Paint that you would want to use in your project>
I used Urban and Zest combined with turquoise, lime green and pink craft paint.
step 2 – Use a credit card to spread the paint in a thin layer across your old book paper sheets.
step 3 – Leave the paper sheets to dry really well, or use your heat gun to dry them.
step 4 – Use your paper trimmer and trim the sheets of papers into squares.
I cut them all differently to create a mix of sizes and shapes – here you don’t want to be perfect.
step 5 – Adhere the paper squares randomly to your art journal page using gel medium.
Overlap the squares for an interesting and layered effect.
I added some thick brown thread into the mix and also used gel medium to adhere the pieces randomly.
Then use a stencil and texture paste to add a design to your page.
Use different art mediums, crayons and pencils to add additional colours and highlight the texture created on your page.
The beautiful shades of POP Paint makes for an interesting background. I think I may just repeat the process in
all those beautiful pastel POP Paint colours.
what have you done with your POP Paint today?
