Captured Art Journal Page | POP Paint and stamps
Posted on 30 Jun 2016
Can you believe it is the end of June already. With each new month comes a new art journal page and theme.
No surprise is that my beloved art journal features POP Paint and some of my favorite butterfly stamps of all time.
I created a fun brayered background using my POP Paint for this weeks’ art journal page.
The brayering adds a lovely textured and mottled effect and the POP paint gives it that natural chalky feel without the bulk.
A perfect combination for a stunning study in pinks.
step 1 – Add some POP Paint onto a brayer using a palette knife. Work with small amounts at a time and add more as you need.
TIP: A brayer is a rubber roller used in arts and crafts.
step 2 – Roll the paint over the pages of your art journal. Change direction each time you roll so that the paint creates an interesting effect.
Cover the entire page right up to the edges using a single colour of paint or mix things up by adding some more colours.
Stamp the butterflies randomly onto your page using black permanent ink.
Print a pink butterfly, cut out and adhere to the top of a stamped butterfly.
Stamp various other words, numbers and quotes randomly overlapping each other for a stunning repetition effect.
Use a dark pink pearl mist and mist through a diamond stencil over the entire background. Leave all inks to dry.
To finish off your page, add some gold metallic ink splats, black and pink ink splats.
Add additional quotes or writing to personalize your page – but most of all have fun!
